Question about French: Differences in use between APPORTER and EMPORTER, as well as AMENER and EMMENER?
I know that the two with "port" deals with objects and "men" deals with people and animals, etc. However, all the examples I have seen use the subject "je." I am wondering about usage between apporter and emporter in a command, "Bring me the telephone." "____-moi le tlphone portable, s'il te plat." Does the difference usage arise from the direction (away or to) with regard to the subject or the speaker? The phone is coming to the speaker, but away from the subject. Thanks!
